About:

Dr. Vivek Sama is a qualified Orthopedic and Trauma surgeon, as well as a seasoned and accomplished management professional.  His experience extends across India, England, and the U.S., and combines corporate leadership as well as entrepreneurship and investing.

Vivek began his management career at Bain & Co., in their San Francisco office, where he advised senior management of corporations including Varian Medical Systems, Guidant Corporation, Evanston Hospitals, Great West Life, Nike Corporation, Hewlett Packard, and others.  As part of Bain’s Private Equity Group he also led due diligence and operational transformation projects for healthcare companies on behalf of leading private equity firms in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Following his time at Bain & Co., Vivek led the business team of Opus Medical, a highly successful medical device startup acquired by ArthroCare Corporation, Sunnyvale, California, in 2006.  Subsequently, Vivek joined ArthroCare as Director of Marketing & Business Development.  At Arthrocare, Vivek led the sports medicine business unit, and also held responsibility for corporate venture capital activities.

Vivek is based in India where he has been an Executive Partner for HealthCare Global Enterprises (HCG), a leader in cancer care and research in India.  In 2012, he founded the Indian operation of the American Hospital Management Company, Washington DC, and grew its presence as a hospital management and consulting firm in South Asia.

Vivek has also established Chiranjiv Medical Foundation, a charitable organization that funds medical treatment for BPL (Below Poverty Line) patients.

As a trauma surgeon, Vivek has practiced in the Oxford Radcliffe and the Coventry & Warwickshire Hospitals in the United Kingdom, as well as premier centers in India.  He is a graduate of the prestigious Maulana Azad Medical College, University of Delhi, and has an MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University.
