Hystero-Laparoscopy in Delhi

Home / Hystero-Laparoscopy in Delhi

A hystero-laparoscopy is two keyhole examinations done together in a single sitting — looking inside the uterus with a hysteroscope and at the uterus, tubes and ovaries with a laparoscope. It gives a complete picture of the reproductive organs in one anaesthetic, and many problems it finds can be treated then and there. At Sama Hospital’s gynaecology unit — a NABH-accredited, doctor-owned hospital in South Delhi — it is a day-care procedure.

What the Two Parts Do

  • Hysteroscopy — a fine telescope through the cervix, viewing the uterine cavity from inside. No cuts.
  • Laparoscopy — a camera through a small abdominal incision, viewing the uterus, fallopian tubes and ovaries from outside.

Together they show things a scan alone cannot reliably see.

Why It Might Be Recommended

  • Difficulty conceiving
  • Unexplained pelvic pain
  • Abnormal bleeding
  • Recurrent miscarriage

It can identify blocked fallopian tubes, endometriosis, adhesions, fibroids, polyps and abnormalities of the uterine cavity.

Diagnosis and Treatment in One Sitting

This is the real advantage. Polyps and adhesions can be removed, endometriosis treated, and blocked tubes sometimes opened — during the same procedure. That often spares you a second operation. Your surgeon will discuss beforehand what might be found and what would be treated on the spot.

Recovery

Usually day care under general anaesthesia — home the same day, back to normal activity within a few days to a week. Mild cramping, light bleeding and brief shoulder-tip discomfort from the laparoscopy gas are common for a day or two and settle on their own.

What It Can and Can’t Promise

Where it finds and corrects a treatable cause, it can improve the chance of conceiving — but that depends entirely on what is found, and we won’t promise it in advance. Its dependable value is a clear, accurate answer, so whatever comes next rests on facts rather than guesswork.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a hystero-laparoscopy?

Two keyhole examinations in one sitting — hysteroscopy to see inside the uterus, laparoscopy to see the uterus, tubes and ovaries from outside. One anaesthetic, complete picture.

Why might I need one?

To investigate difficulty conceiving, unexplained pelvic pain, abnormal bleeding or recurrent miscarriage. It finds blocked tubes, endometriosis, adhesions, fibroids, polyps and cavity abnormalities.

Can problems be treated at the same time?

Frequently yes — polyps and adhesions removed, endometriosis treated, blocked tubes sometimes opened — often sparing you a second operation.

What is recovery like?

Day care under general anaesthesia; home the same day, normal activity within days to a week. Mild cramping and brief shoulder discomfort from the gas settle on their own.

Will it improve my chances of conceiving?

It can, where it finds and corrects a treatable cause — but that depends on what’s found and can’t be promised. Its reliable value is an accurate answer to guide what comes next.
