Eczema Treatment in Delhi

Eczema — atopic dermatitis — makes skin dry, inflamed and intensely itchy, and the itch is often what wears people down most. It is not caused by poor hygiene and is not contagious. It cannot be cured, but with the right routine it can be controlled well enough that most days are comfortable ones. At Sama Hospital’s dermatology unit in South Delhi we treat both children and adults.

This is the single most useful thing to understand about eczema. Emollients are the foundation of care — applied generously, often, and even when the skin looks clear. They repair the leaky skin barrier and reduce how often flares happen. Most treatment failures we see aren’t the wrong medicine; they’re moisturiser used too sparingly, or stopped as soon as things improved.

Fear of steroid creams causes more harm than the creams do. Used correctly they are safe and effective, and under-treating a flare prolongs it. What matters is the right strength, on the right area, for the right length of time — which we set out clearly for you. Non-steroid options are available for delicate areas like the face.

Many children improve considerably as they grow, and a good proportion see eczema largely settle by their teens. Some keep sensitive skin into adulthood, and eczema can also start in adults. Either way, good control during childhood makes daily life far easier.
